Privacy Policy
Last updated June 9, 2026
The Packing Atlas is built to need as little of your information as possible. There are no accounts, no advertising, and no analytics watching you read. This page explains exactly what is collected, by whom, and what you can do about it, in plain language.
- No accounts and no logins.
- The trips, checklists, and notes you save stay in your own browser. We do not receive them.
- We do not run ads, analytics, or cross-site tracking.
- The only information you actively give us is what you send through the contact form.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information.
1. Who we are
This site, The Packing Atlas (the “site,” “we,” “us”), publishes country-specific packing guides. We are responsible for the information described here. You can reach us any time through our contact page.
2. Information stored on your own device
When you save a trip, check items off a list, add your own items, write notes, or set trip dates, that information is stored locally in your browser using its built-in storage (localStorage). It stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we do not have access to it.
You can erase all of it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for this site, or by using the remove and reset controls in the app. Clearing it will permanently delete your saved trips and checklists.
3. Information you send us
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you provide. We use this only to read your message and reply. The form is delivered by a third-party form service, and your message arrives in our email inbox. We keep contact messages only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and our records of it.
4. Information collected automatically
Like any website, when you visit, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical request information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the date and time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to track you across the web.
5. What we do not collect
We do not use analytics or cross-site tracking tools. We do not run advertising. We do not set our own cookies. We do not ask for or store accounts, passwords, or payment details, and the site is free to use. We do not build behavioral profiles of our readers.
6. Third-party services
To run the site we rely on a small number of reputable third-party services, for example for hosting, delivering the contact form, protecting it from bots, and serving fonts. We share information with them only as needed to operate the site, and some of them may receive technical details such as your IP address when a page loads. We never sell your information to anyone, and each of these services operates under its own privacy policy.
7. Cookies and local storage
We do not set our own cookies. We use your browser’s local storage to remember your saved lists on your device, as described above. Some of the third-party services we use (in particular the bot protection on the contact form) may set their own cookies or collect data when their features load.
You can clear local storage, and block or delete cookies, in your browser settings at any time. Clearing local storage for this site will erase your saved trips and checklists.
8. How we use information
We use the limited information above only to deliver and display the site, remember your lists on your device, respond to messages you send us, keep the site secure and working, and comply with the law. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and, in some regions, to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Because most of what the site stores (your trips and checklists) lives only in your own browser, you can exercise the most important right yourself at any time by clearing your site data. For anything we hold, such as a contact message, you can make a request through our contact page and we will respond as required by law. Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California are expressly included in these rights.
10. Legal bases (for EEA and UK visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process information on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the site, on your consent (for example, when you choose to send us a message), and to comply with our legal obligations.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data-protection laws than your own. Where required, these providers rely on recognized safeguards for such transfers.
12. Data retention
Information saved on your device stays until you clear it. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry. Technical logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period under their own policies.
13. Children's privacy
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Other websites we link to
Our guides link to outside resources such as official government pages and travel services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their policies before sharing information with them.
15. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), we keep the data we handle to a minimum, and we use established providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but collecting as little as possible is our main protection.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made clear here.
17. Contact us
